Diverse range of wildlife
This dynamic ecosystem supports a diverse range of wildlife, including the Malaysian sun bear and the endangered lion-tailed macaque, as well as colorful bird species such as the Nilgiri laughing thrush. With over 34 mammal species, 292 bird species, 31 reptile species, and 500 butterfly species residing in the area, Silent Valley is recognized as a vital biodiversity hotspot and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
